A very unusual adventure in Puglia!
There is not only a wonderful sea, cheeses, wine, but also its own breed of horse - cavallo murgese (murgese). The color of this horse is pitch black!
In the Middle Ages, the breed was considered noble and was grown exclusively by the aristocracy - great feudal lords, such as the Counts of Aquaviva Conversano (these are the ones who contributed to the creation of the town of Alberobello.
The main factor that shaped this breed of horse is the severity of the territory. Strong limbs and strong hooves are the most important feature of this breed. Such characteristics have become so entrenched over time thanks to the territory in which they live that in the past many farmers used horses without a horseshoe when working in the fields. Murgese is a strong, obedient and courageous horse, strong in legs, easy to use, very smart, capable of training and training, and extremely elegant in its tar-black color.
Well, did you want to get acquainted with the black-maned handsome men? Across the whole of Puglia there are many riding arenas, which deal with both walks and private riding lessons.
